It seems like Lars is suffering from a disorder because his behaviors are abnormal. It is not common for a person to have a doll as his girl friend and think she is real. Other people seem disturbed by the fact that Lars is in love with a doll, but they are trying to communicate with Lars and his “girl friend” as if it’s not unusual. Although he was acting normally towards other people, his strong belief about Bianca shows that something is wrong with Lars.

She has difficulty making friends of her age, and has preoccupation with a particular subject to the exclusion of all others. However, she doesn't have the Asperger syndrome because she is apathetic about other people. If she had Asperger syndrome, she would have tried hard to make friends with her peers somehow. Also, Anne's obsession about drawing is not atypical because she could be obsessed about drawing so much that she wouldn't care about anything else.
